so sad dave, you are so close to disney world as i call it and you can't make it. them southern folk pay a lot of money to fish reindeer lake and i think nothing of heading up there to have fun.

will get a few photos of the fish fry and what we catch other then the ford truck, LOL

just returned for the "RISK IT ALL TOUR" on reindeer lake. of course we stayed at http://www.grandslamlodge.com at kinoosao sk. the owner "folyd" was there getting the camp ready for the up coming season by putting up ice and upgrading the cabins. we arrived thursday evening to a fish fry with white and trout fish and of course fresh banic (native bread). the next day we ran out and got the ford truck with the td-9 known as BAD BUSINESS. while xena and i were doing this, floyd and ron caught supper which was 2 lake trout. floyd wanted to make a chower out of some the lake trout and boy was it good. i like floyd's cook book which is off the top of his head. in the morning we woke up to fresh goose delivered to the cabin. too bad we could not stay for supper because the goose was going to be very tastey. LOL

Looked like scons to me. Bannock usually isn't deep fried and cut into rectangles.

Fresh Canada Goose in the spring time :?: Very interesting!

gatorhunter, since you live in the south, you might do banic differently. floyd makes it the way it has been handed from his mother and so on. it is the best banic i have tasted and the next morning cold banic and hot coffee were very well.

as for the goose in the spring it is a big thing in the great white north. very tastey when cooked right.

so dave, i think you should have phoned in sick at work, right???

Call it whatever you want, I was just saying that when prepared in that manner, the northern folks that I know call them scones. I may live in the south now but I lived up north for 15 years and I've worked on and off up there for almost 28 years.

As for spring geese being tasty, I believe it. However, it doesn't take away from the illegalities of killing Canada Geese in the spring unless of course, that person has a constitutional right to harvest wild animals for his/her own subsistence. 8)

N-M, there was 4 feet of ice on reindeer lake and right beside that was open water. the fishing was good for the boys while i drove the cat.

gatorhunter, it miss spell it so it shows up on a google search. also you know how to use big words, so i figure you must have a uniform.
my website was going to break 2 million hits in oct just before i got my "real job". so i live in a glass bowl because i have people watching what i do. the fish "they" caught on reindeer was enough to eat, the fish remains fed the dogs. so there was no waste. as for the goose, "they" only shot one because that is enough to eat, anymore is a waste. i hang around with people who respect the wildlife and fish.

thansk, and to think you missed it all twice now. the road is good when you travel in the early morning. it is part of the fun.

we still have lots of ice, was going to play with my underwater camera (my next adventure)today, but could not find anyone with a good ice auger.

so the next time i email saying there is a warm cabin, you will be calling in sick at work????
